Not just vibration for the driver, but reducing inherent vibrations in a drivetrain has benefits for overall engine health. Meaning, less potential wear on parts like bearings or the crank. While it's certainly case-by-case depending on the engine setup / configuration, I still believe that for the VG the benefits to the overall engine harmonics of having that rubber (stock or aftermarket) outweigh the power gains of a lighter pulley without the rubber.
